We're Vulcan Racing Team, a group of students who are entering the annual F1 in Schools competition. This involves three main parts to the project.

The Car

The car is the basis for our whole project. We must design and produce a model car

of no less than 65g. There are many regulations we have to follow aside from this, such

as wingspan all the way to chord length. We have spent many hours designing the car

and we hope it will do well in the race. This consists of two cars. One person from each team must launch the car from a reaction test and try to get the quickest time. The fastest time will go to the top of the leaderboard and will be crowned Fastest Regional Car. The main design for the car goes into the Design Portfolio as technical drawings and other renderings. We then have to talk about our design process in the verbal presentation. As you can see, much of our project revolves around the car and its design.

Design and Marketing Portfolios

As part of our project, we have to write and design two five-page portfolios.

Our Design Portfolio is about our design, development of our design and the technical specifications of our car. This must contain orthographic drawings, renderings of our car and any other design features we wish to add.

The Marketing Portfolio is about how we funded our project and the process of sponsorship and how we rewarded our sponsors for this. If you are a sponsor for us, you will know how we are rewarding you for what you have given us.

Verbal Presentation

The second part of our project is to pitch our car to a panel of judges. This details how we designed our car, sponsorship and cannot be longer than five minutes.

Last year, our team won the Best Presentation award, so we hope to carry this on.
